Description

From the team who brought you the New Jersey Virtual Challenge comes another great event.  CompuScore Productions presents to you Run The Northeast Corridor Virtual Challenge.  We want to bring the running community back together, virtually. We miss seeing all of your smiling faces in real life and until that can safely happen again, we want to see your photos and watch your miles accumulate.  We are bringing to you several events to keep you going (#KFG) including a new RELAY option!.  Pick your distance and your departure date (start date). You will have 62 days from your Departure (wave) start time to complete the total miles from the event you choose.  You can run or walk anywhere you want, inside or outside as long as you log the miles. You do not have to run or walk each day, you just have to finish the total distance in 62 days. You will be sent a reminder each day to log your distances as well as daily updates with your location and cumulative distanced logged.  You will also see how you place among the other participants daily.

Departure 1: July 1 - Arrive by Aug 31
Departure 2: July 15 - Arrive by Sep 14 (Registration will Open July 2)
Departure 3: Aug 1 - Arrive by Oct 1 (Registration will Open July 16)

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America®, has been delivering food, help and hope across the state for 45 years. Last year, CFBNJ provided nutritious food for over 50 million meals through its network of more than 1,000 community partners including pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, mobile pantries, and child and senior feeding programs. For our hungry neighbors, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey is the powerful agent of change that fills the emptiness caused by hunger and provides resources that are essential to earning a sustainable living.

The FoodBank is a primary disaster relief responder in the state, and we are in the midst of a major relief effort to address the COVID-19 crisis. We are working to ensure access to nutritious food for vulnerable individuals and families and to meet the growing need. We are also working to create emergency meal kits with nonperishable foods, which can sustain a family for several days. For more info: cfbnj.org

Clean Ocean Action (COA) is the only full time coalition dedicated to improving the marine waters of the New York/New Jersey region. Since 1984, the organization has utilized scientific research, education, citizen action and legislative change to protect the ocean and coastal waterways from harmful threats such as industrialization, water contamination and plastic pollution. To date, COA has removed over 7 million pieces of debris from coastal beaches, stopped toxic ocean dumping at all eight of NJ’s offshore sites, blocked seven Liquefied Natural Gas facilities and passed legislation at the municipal, state and federal level to help protect the ocean. Thanks to COA the beaches in New Jersey and New York are no longer riddled with toxic debris and the coasts are free from dangerous fossil fuel infrastructure. The ocean is the planet’s most valuable resource and Clean Ocean Action works tirelessly to ensure its protection.

As a result of the ongoing pandemic, Clean Ocean Action has been forced to modify or postpone many important programs which contribute to our comprehensive water quality initiatives. As a result, the organization is working to ensure that despite the COVID-19 crisis, we do not take steps backward in the ongoing battle to the environment which sustains our species, from the water we drink to the air we breathe.
